Resume' Creativity

Hey y'all!

So it's been about a week since I have posted anything! The end of the year is always crazy! With all the tests, projects, and papers my teachers are like:

Anyway, today I wanted to show you guys something I think is pretty darn cool.
As you know, I am currently on the hunt for internships, and needed a way to stand out.
I mean what truly makes your resume' worth picking up if it looks the same as everyone else's?
I was given the advice from a mentor to do something that would catch the employers attention, so I turned to my trusted friend Google and the search for the perfect idea began. Finally I came across the idea of a resume' made of fabric from www.melissamakesthings.com
So here is my final product:

If you would like to see exactly how to make this resume' head on over to www.melissamakesthings.com!
Hope you all enjoyed seeing this project and find a way to make your resume' stand out too! Remember, if it's not just a piece of paper it's a lot harder to just throw it in the trash!

XOXO,

Ali

Easter Style

Happy Sunday!

I hope that your weekend was filled with fun and relaxation! Even though Monday is looming ahead, I can't help but be excited because I LOVE Easter!
This was me on Easter mornings as a kid:
Okay maybe I'm still like that...

With only one week until Easter I thought that a blog on Easter fashions for this season would be very fitting. So here are some ideas for dressing fabulous this Easter!
  1. Radiant Orchid
This is the color for spring!

2. Floral

Floral Kimonos are also a great way to rock the floral look!

3. Cutout and Crochet details

Enjoy some of these new trends and have a Happy Easter! Also, go ahead and enjoy this super cute bunny eating a carrot!

XOXO,
Ali

Internships

Happy Tuesday!

I'm sorry it has been awhile since I checked in, this past week and the current one are CRAZY busy! The Fashion Merchandising students are putting on the Passion for Fashion Consignment store this week and let me tell you- building, working, and tearing down a consignment store in one week is EXHAUSTING. Add on two initiations, tests, and projects and you get one busy girl.

Seriously y'all this has been me every day for two weeks

But enough about my mental exhaustion, let's talk fashion!
Much like every other college junior/senior I am on the hunt for a summer internship. So how do you get one? Well here are a few tips from a seasoned internship applier. (But really, I've applied for like 30 at least.)
  1. Get involved now, before it's too late. You may laugh at those kids in your class that are in a ton of school organizations and are always busy with something but employers look at more than just grades and experience. They look for leadership and dedication because those are things they want you to bring to their company. There is a difference between saying you are a leader and handing them your resume' with clear examples proving it.
  2.  Get your resume' checked by a pro. What do I mean by this one? Every college has some sort of career services center. USE THEM! Trust me they help people with this for a living and they can catch mistakes that you never would in a thousand years. I thought I did a pretty great job on my resume' and marched into career services expecting a pat on the back. Yeah right. My resume' came back with more red marks than ink from the printer! Even after that I sent my resume' on to a professional in the fashion industry and it has improved huge amounts since then! Your resume' can constantly be improved, no matter your age.
  3. Never give up! Do not expect that the internship fairy will fly down and grant you your dream internship on the first try. Like I said, I have applied for tons of internships so far, and even after receiving an offer, I am still looking! Every other upperclassmen college student is looking too so don't forget that there is competition, and lots of it. Make sure every cover letter is high quality and never stop building your resume'!
Hope some of these tips were helpful!
Happy Hunting!
And may the lattes be ever in your favor.

XOXO,
Ali
